Inspired by my chat with Jo Whitton from Quirky cooking last week about her family’s journey with gut health and the GAPS diet I have put together a collection of lovely, gut healing bone broth recipes – all gluten and dairy free (and mostly grain free too!)
Including more gut friendly, bone broth recipes in your families diet will help to improve
- tummy issues
- mood and mental health
- immune function
- hormone balance
- and so much more!
So let’s get to it!
I often make my chicken bone broth using a whole chicken, or you can make it using just the bones left over from a roast or even a BBQ chicken, find out how to make bone broth here
To start with I am going to share my My Chicken and Vegetable soup
This one’s a great recipe to make on a Sunday for lunches or dinners through the week. You can use any vegetables you have in the fridge or that are in season.
Meat from 1 chicken (Reserved from making broth)
2 sticks of celery
6 cloves garlic
1 teaspoon each of dried rosemary and oregano
2 tablespoons tomato paste
400g tin tomatoes
2 litres chicken broth
3 cups cauliflower
1 tin kidney or cannellini beans.
Chopped parsley to serve
Saute onion, carrot and celery in a little olive oil or ghee until softened.
Add dried herbs, tomato paste and garlic, fry off for a minute then add tin of tomatoes and broth.
Stir in cauliflower and zucchini.
Season with salt and pepper.
Bring to the boil, then simmer for 15 minutes.
Add the beans and cooked chicken.
Top with fresh chopped parsley and Enjoy!
